My sister-in-law and her husband just bought an adorable house and, among other decorating projects, are having a dilemma about what to do with a boarded-up fireplace. A non-working fireplace is always a design challenge (unless you have the cashola to fix it or immediately put in a gas insert); I’ve seen them filled with candles (of course), TVs, empty wine bottles…but never books. I love how the unexpected use of space and helter-skelter stacks add a bit of chaos to this otherwise pristine room.
